Mission brief
The flight at a glance.
Columbia’s STS-32 mission deployed the SYNCOM IV-F5 communications satellite and retrieved NASA’s Long Duration Exposure Facility. It launched on January 9, 1990, and landed on January 20 after nearly eleven days in space. Launch Pad 39A was used for the first time since January 1986, rather than for the first time in the shuttle program.
